Biography

PROFILE: As a busy mother of four, Ramona Indrebo was not able to pursue a higher education earlier in life. She now wants to serve as a role model to her children, emphasizing the value of a college degree. “If my children see that Mom can earn a degree, they will know that they can, too.”
Ramona admits to being petrified when she stepped into a classroom after so many years. “My first goal was to find the class without looking lost. After the first lecture I was hooked, and my passion for learning had been reignited. I have enjoyed every minute of this journey.”
INSPIRATION: “Although my parents did not obtain college degrees, I credit them with my strong work ethic.” Ramona has also benefited from the consistent encouragement of her family, advisor, and the instructors and staff at Pikes Peak Community College.
ASPIRATION: “In my early twenties, I worked as a nurse’s aide and quickly became attached to the patients that I cared for. I would like to be in a position to attract and train personnel who are both competent and passionate about caring for geriatric patients. I enjoy working with people both young and old, and this area of health care would give me the opportunity to do both.”
MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Ramona was a peer tutor at college, also volunteering at the Marian House soup kitchen. She has volunteered in assistant leadership positions for the Girl Scouts and has been involved with the Pikes Peak Humane Society.
ACCOLADES: Ramona graduated summa cum laude. She was on the President’s List, belonged to Phi Theta Kappa, and received two scholarships from the Kane Family Foundation.
INTERESTING FACT: Ramona loves watching professional baseball, people watching, and camping.
