PROFILE: Chelsea Allen first began considering her career ambitions at the age of nine, when she became interested in the business of agriculture through her participation in 4-H clubs. In her teens, this developed into a serious interest in international business and law.
Around the same time, difficult family circumstances forced Chelsea to interrupt high school to help support her family. “I have learned much from this experience, especially compassion and patience. In the end, I think I am a stronger, better person because of all the trials. It drives me to get my education so I can help and inspire others.”
INSPIRATION: Chelsea’s mother and grandmother emigrated from Cuba in 1962. “My mother was my first and best teacher. She endowed me with a love of learning and the will to succeed.”
ASPIRATION: Chelsea plans to study business administration, concentrating in international business, global management, and entrepreneurship. Her long-term career goal is to become an attorney.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Chelsea, who loves music and plays piano, is the co-founder and co-director of a youth choir that performs at local nursing homes. She also contributes to her college newspaper, The Mane Issue. While still in middle school, she mentored and coached 4-H members in cattle showmanship and animal husbandry.
ACCOLADES: Chelsea is on the President’s List and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was appointed senator to Wallace State’s student government and is also an active member of the US Civil Air Patrol.
INTERESTING FACT: Chelsea once showed Brangus cattle on a professional circuit.
